Le cinéma algérien absent mais l’Algérie est présente à Cannes
DIA- 04 juin 2020: Malgré la crise mondiale du Coronavirus, le Festival de Cannes a tenu à marquer sa présence avec une sélection officielle de films qui porteront le label Cannes 2020, et qui seront projetés au cinéma après la fin du confinement.
Cette année le cinéma algérien est totalement absent de cette sélection, puisque aucun film produit ou coproduit par les entreprises cinématographiques algériennes n’est sélectionné à Cannes. En revanche plusieurs films qui parlent de l’Algérie sont présents dans cette sélection.
L’un des films qui a été largement commenté sur la toile c’est le dernier film de Maïwenn ADN (DNA). Un film représentant la France et l’Algérie grâce à la double origine de la cinéaste Maïwenn. La réalisatrice évoque le passé de son grand père algérien. Même si l’Algérie n’est pas coproducteur du film, la réalisatrice qui a acquis la nationalité algérienne a tenu à inscrire le film au nom de l’Algérie.
L’autre film qui parle de l’Algérie DES HOMMES (Home Front) du réalisateur Belge Lucas BELVAUX. Le film évoque la Guerre d’Algérie et plus précisément le sort des appelés français revenus en France après la fin de la guerre en 1962. Bernard, Rabut, Février et d’autres sont rentrés en France. Ils se sont tus, ils ont vécu leurs vies. Mais parfois il suffit de presque rien, d’une journée d’anniversaire en hiver, d’un cadeau qui tient dans la poche, pour que quarante ans après, le passé fasse irruption dans la vie de ceux qui ont cru pouvoir le nier, précise le synopsis du film.
Enfin deux réalisateurs franco-algériens Farid Bentoumi avec ROUGE (Red Soil) et Samir Guesmi avec le film IBRAHIM, sont présents avec des films personnels dans cette sélection officielle.
Lors de la conférence de presse de cette 73e édition du Festival de Cannes, Thierry Frémaux, Délégué général du Festival, a révélé la Sélection officielle 2020 composée de 56 films qui seront accompagnés par le Festival lors de leurs sorties en salles et de leurs présentations dans certains festivals.
